Since the passing of Yokoyama Sensei in April of 2010, the administration and leadership of the KSK in Japan has been in the hands of his three most senior students, Matama Kazushi, Furuya Teruo and Kakizakai Kaoru. All three played a pivotal role in the founding of the KSK and in the production of the first International Shakuhachi Festival in Bisei in 1994, and together they have continued to promote and enhance Yokoyama’s legacy, his teaching and his style of play. Currently, they continue to sponsor workshops in Japan several times a year and all three are actively engaged in teaching and performing around the world.
